Boffas sauces originate from Scottburgh, near Durban, South Africa from a 60 year old secret family recipe. Martin Boffa and his wife Janna, started producing the sauces commercially in 2015, initially on a very limited scale in response to rave comments from the relatively few lucky individuals that had tasted them.
The original sauces were enjoyed primarily at Braais (barbeques). Whilst the Boffas chilli sauce range is particularly compatible with grilled meats and fish and as a dipping for chips and fries, the range has now been extended. There is now a Boffas sauce to accompany a wide variety of different dishes.
Demand for the Boffas sauces in South Africa has been phenomenal and Martin and Janna have been overwhelmed by the volume of orders and repeat orders. In response to requests from South African expats in the UK and UK tourists visiting South Africa, Martin asked Graham Langley, a former school mate from Durban who now resides in the UK to help him establish the brand in the UK. The medium term goal is to be known as producers of the finest range of chilli sauces in the UK and to become a major player in what is, we believe, the most rapidly growing element of the condiment sector, chilli sauces. Ultimately, we have aspirations to extend the brand into Europe, Africa, USA and Asia.
